Mark’s Summary. About the title: Not that kind of housekeeping. I mean, keeping the house as in guarding the house, protecting the house. For those duties, I love this S&W 686 Plus, Hogue grip, Galco holster, and Creedmoor .38 Special +p ammo. These four make the housekeeping chore a breeze.
***
S&W’s 686 Plus offers seven rounds of .357 Magnum or .38 Special in an all-steel frame which can double as a blunt force instrument if needs be. Accurate and smooth, it’s also chunky and heavy. But I love it.
These days I’m carrying the mighty Smith in a Galco Summer Comfort 2 IWB holster, another classic. Despite the thickness of the cylinder, it is comfortable. With the right shirt draped over, it hides easily at 3 o’clock.
Here’s the body side of the holster. Note the reinforced mouth and the clearance for the stocks.
Hogue Bantam style grips are rubber with a pebble texture. Despite their minimalist nature, they’re very comfortable and allow fantastic purchase. Note the extension for the pinky…
See what I mean?
I could go .357 but I’m more than adequately prepared with seven rounds of Creedmoor .38 Special +p on board. The Smith makes firing just about any ammo an easy chore.
