GUNNY-black

By Mark Kakkuri

I don’t need any extra 30-round mags for my AR-15,” said no one, at least not in this century. But once you’ve got more than two or three magazines, where are you going to carry them while you’re using your AR? Wrong answers include: In your weak hand or in the back pocket of your jeans or stuffed behind your belt. You don’t necessarily need or want a mag-pouch-equipped tactical vest but a reasonable alternative is this BLACKHAWK! Rifle Bandoleer. Carrying six 30-round magazines (three in the front, three in the back), the bandoleer goes over either shoulder holding the magazines for either a right- or left-handed shooter.

The shoulder strap is padded (with a no-slip surface), adjustable (allowing you to wear the rig anywhere from mid-chest to side hip), removable and clips on and off easily. A second strap goes around your waist, stabilizing the rig, keeping the bandoleer pointed in one direction, helping wrap around the contours of your body, and reducing flopping during more strenuous shooting activities. It, too, is removable. The pouch itself features super durable ballistic nylon and each flap attaches via hook and loop closures. To get at a magazine you just grasp a flap and pull it upward. Now, as you might surmise, the magazines in the “front” of the bandoleer are easily accessible. Those in the “back” are not quite as accessible but with a bit of finagling you can get them out, no sweat. All told, you’ll be able to carry an additional 180 rounds of ammo on your person during competition, training, or, if needed, other serious shooting scenarios. $61.45.
