It’s summer, and time for loose, cool shirts, lightweight shorts and a new bellyband holster. I recently tested four, and three of ’em felt like sweatbands with irritating edge stitching. The most comfortable and the best buy for your bucks, is available online from the NRA Store. I don’t know who the maker is, because the only tag says “NRA,” but they got it right. The material is nicely ventilated and finished, so it’s easy on the skin. The band is 5″ wide with lots of lateral stretch and is fully adjustable with a Velcro closure. There are two pockets for small- to medium-size handguns on the left and right, set up for the included snap-type safety strap — plus it includes two large and two small pockets for magazines and other gear (shown is a Kahr TP4543, slim and flat with a full grip).
Construction quality is excellent. Offered in black or tan, sizes run from medium (32-36″) to XXL (44-50″). I found it rides well even with two handguns as well as gear. MSRP is only $33.95. www.americancop.com/nra
