Simple yet sophisticated. Tactically proficient but not tactical-looking. And nary a straight edge to be found on it. Benchmade’s Loco offers all-around folding knife excellence with rounded design features not only for maximum function but also for beautiful form.
A few stats and comments and then I’ll give you a few pics.
You can get the SV30 blade in plain or serrated, satin or coated. I like this plain/satin version for ease of sharpening, traditional look, and overall usefulness. G10 handles offer a smooth, yet sure gripping surface. A traditional pocket clip (tip-up mount) can go on either side of the Loco and the well-known AXIS locking mechanism can handle virtually anything I’ll ever ask of it.
Here’s more data…
- Blade Length: 3.68″
- Blade Thickness: 0.160″ <– Thick and strong!
- Open Length: 8.62″
- Closed Length: 4.94″
- Handle Thickness: 0.67″
- Weight: 6.56 oz.
Note the last two data points. This is a robust knife. But it’s not clunky or awkward in any way. It goes in and out of pocket gracefully. And, despite being a folder, it’ll probably hold up better than some fixed blade knives.
I’m sure you noticed all the curvature built into the handle and blade. Good-looking, for sure, but functional, too. There’s a lot of leverage here.
Retailing for $255, the Benchmade Loco proves form can follow function — and beautifully so.
