Sig Sauer is rolling out new lines of pistol ammunition, including V-Crown JHP and Elite Performance FMJ rounds. Here are a few in calibers starting with “4”…

Year over year, ammunition quality and effectiveness continues to increase. So much so the 9mm has become a very popular round compared to the .40. But plenty of .40’s are still on duty, including this SigSauer P239, a classic carry gun. Naturally I want to see how SigSauer’s ammo does in a SigSauer gun…

Here’s SigSauer’s .44 Special round, a 200 gr. JHP monster and sort of a sleeper self-defense round. The short round next to the .44 is a .40, just for comparison’s sake. I’ll be loading up a revolver with the .44’s for some backcountry work.

You bet there’s a SigSauer .45 Auto round. An instantly recognizable size and shape, the .45 Auto, like the .44 Special, dwarfs the .40 right next to it. Surely there’s a 1911 (maybe even a SigSauer 1911!) to benefit from this ammo…

SigSauer target ammo goes by the “Elite Peformance” moniker…

And the moment of truth: mags loaded, ready to shoot. The P239 carries 7+1 in thin, single-stack magazines. This gun has always chambered, fired, and ejected anything I’ve put through it. I don’t expect any different performance from ammo by the same name…
