If you don’t have a real gun belt, now’s the time.

No more excuses.

Versacarry, maker of the plastic gun carrier that’s not really a holster, now offers a selection of gun belts. Even though Versacarry holsters are plastic wonders, Versacarry gun belts are comprised of no plastic whatsoever. Just good old handcrafted, full-grain, vegetable-tanned, English bridle leather from USA hides. I have both the single ply belt and a double ply belt from Versacarry. And I enjoy both but I often grab the double. Here’s why.

Versacarry refers to its double ply gun belt as “extra heavy duty.” And it is. It rivals any double ply gun belt out there and retails for $49.99. When I first tried put it on, it was so stiff I had to break it in a bit in order to get it buckle easily and then pass the end of the belt back through the loop. As robust as it is, it’s not overly heavy. And when I’ve got my shirt tucked in — which isn’t often because I’m usually carrying inside the waistband and using my untucked shirt for cover — it looks great.

Cinched around my waist, any micro pistol in this belt rides easily either inside or outside the waistband. So I grabbed something a bit heavier — a Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact Pro, attached it to a Versacarry carrier and clipped it inside the Versacarry gun belt. And of course the Versacarry Extra Heavy Duty Double Ply handled it easily, dispersing the weight of the rig around my waist.

Still, the belt is so stiff that you get good sized gaps fore and aft of the gun. It’s not a threat to concealability nor comfort; it just looks funny when you peer down at it. But carrying and drawing go great so there’s no concern.

While the Versacarry carriers ride perfectly on the Versacarry belt (of course), the company says, right on its website, other holsters (leather, Kydex, whatever) work on their belts just as well.

Nickel plated hardware and military grade snaps round out the offering, allowing you to swap in your favorite belt buckle if so inclined.
